Peter and Christine are the two main figures behind the Bachata scene in Sweden, and have been working for spreading the music and the dance through classes, parties, bootcamps, festivals and live music – since 2006. During summer -2007, they travelled to the Dominican Republic to meet Bachata in its right element. They spent 30 days in cities, shanty towns and gua gua’s – just to be able to live near the people, the music and the dance (far away from the All-Inclusive hotels which doesn’t give you a Dominican experience what so ever!).
Today this couple teaches Bachata classes in Gothenburg. The bachata style taught is Bachata Tradicional (Dominican Bachata) with a mix of Bachata Standard (Bachata – Italian Style).
Peter started to dance when he was 9 years old, and have been dancing for 22 years. The first dance he took on, was a Swedish (and Nordic) version of Swing called ”Bugg”, and also Foxtrot. These two dances he danced for 19 years – and also managed to win several competitions. During these 19 years, he also learned and danced SlowFox, Tango, QuickStep, Waltz, Vienna Waltz, Cha-Cha, Rumba, Jive, Rock’n Roll, Lindy Hop, Boogie Woogie – and lately; Bachata and Salsa.
Christine have been dancing since she was 6 years old. She started out with ballet, and when she was 9 years old she started to dance latin dances; Cha-Cha, Samba, Rumba and Jive. Soon she also took on the two ballroom dances Waltz and Vienna Waltz. During a period when she lived in France, she also learned Step, Jazz, Modern Dance, and Street. Like Peter, she didn’t find her way to Bachata and Salsa until 2006.
